Assessment Criteria:
All the different options you have for progression, (University Courses / Drama or Dance or Musical Theatre or production Arts conservatoire courses / Apprenticeships / Employment etc.)
I have already researched many different drama schools. Drama school is were I see myself in the future but I understand how hard it is to get a place at drama school especially with my level of experience. So what I have done as well as getting all the research on different drama schools and annotating it, is looked at other potential colleges and university I could go to for back a back up.
I have copied most of the information from the drama school websites but then put my own opinion under, I have also posted clips from the websites which have helped me get a feel for what it would be like attending drama school.
Firstly here is a list of the drama schools I am most interested in:
LAMDA: London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (155 Talgarth Road, London W14 9DA)
BA (hons) Professional Acting.
(1) LAMDA offers so much that interests me here are some thing that caught my eye when looking on there website: Year One ‘Classes in acting, improvisation, voice, movement, singing’. I need to gain more experience in all of these areas. Year two offers screen acting which interests me massively and students take part in a ‘Make Your Own Film module’. If I got a place here I would also get a chance to collaborate with a professional writer and director to produce the first draft of a new play! Basically this course offers everything and more.
The applications for LAMDA I will need to apply and pay online for an audition in September.
Arts Education (14 Bath Road Chiswick, London W4 1LY )
Acting BA (hons) / 3 Year Diploma
On the Arts Ed website it says

This Drama school would develop my skills and prepare me to become a professional actor. I really like Arts Ed, it is defiantly one of the drama schools I am most interested in.

Auditions Process
Auditions are held from November – June/July for the Acting courses.
On your initial audition day you will have an opportunity to see the school in action, meet current students and ask questions, so you should expect to be at the School for most of the afternoon.
For the audition you must prepare:
- one monologue from a modern play written after 1980 (two minutes max)
- no more than 14 lines of heightened text from a classical play (preferably Shakespeare)
In addition to performing these pieces, candidates will participate in a workshop consisting of games and improvisations run by an Acting Tutor. For this you will need to bring clothing that gives you freedom of movement.
Successful applicants will then be called to a recall audition where they will be asked to present the same two speeches again and a short duologue scene which will be provided in advance. The duologue scene will be performed on camera and direction will be given.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate and postgraduate acting auditions at Mountview take place as part of a day of workshops with movement and improvisation sessions. There are opportunities to meet current students to find out about life at Mountview and learn about student funding.
Candidates are required to prepare:
- One Shakespeare monologue
- One monologue from a modern play (written after 1979)
Please note that the monologues must:
- Last no longer than two minutes each
- Be from published plays and should not be extracts from poems, novels, films or television scripts
- Involve a character chosen from your own gender and close to your own age
- Be performed in your native accent

- candidates must have complete fluency in the English language.
- the minimum age for admission is 18.
- you will need to demonstrate an intellectual, creative and practical ability to undertake degree level training.
There is an intake of up to 28 students in September each year. We audition all eligible applicants who apply before the deadline.
You may only apply only once per academic year, but you may apply for our Foundation Course in Acting at the same time and using the same form as our BA in Acting. Auditions run from November until June, with the option to audition in London, Manchester, Leicester, Dublin, and New York.
THE AUDITION PROCESS
Our audition process is lengthy and rigorous, spanning several months, and you may be called to attend at short notice. Due to the number of candidates we audition, we do not provide feedback. The decision of the audition panel is final.

GSA: Guildford Shool of Acting (71 Haydon Pl, Guildford GU1 4ND )
I like these Drama schools above because they offer a lot, I would like to go for an audition at each of these drama schools. Of course it is expensive to travel to each audition and the audition itself but over the summer I have set myself a certain amount that I will need to earn to afford the fees. Even if I don’t get a call back audition at least I have the experience and I will build my confidence for the next time I audition.
If I don’t manage to get a place at a drama school this year or next year I plan to go back to college for another two or one year to get more experience. I want look to get experience at another college in Suffolk. Below is a list of colleges that seem to offer good performing arts courses.

Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs at Grade C, one of which must be English Language (or their equivalent) or level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts and successful audition.
You must gain a pass on this qualification to progress on to the Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (equivalent to 3 A Levels).
At the end of my two years at West Suffolk College I will have all the entry requirements. I like the college its very modern and would help me gain more experience for drama school.

You have done some excellent work here, Josh and it looks like you’ve really thought about where you want to go and what you want to do. Again, what you need to be doing is increasing the level of reflection and evaluation throughout your piece. I would have liked to have seen further evidence of evaluation of your choices. Think outside of the actual content of the courses and look at things like, the location of the university, the Alumni, etc. Consider all the practice we’ve had about what you say about why you wanted to attend a certain university. Watch your apostrophes – I’ve got an apostrophe task for you to do to practice. Also, we NEED to go through Harvard Referencing. All in all, though a good crack at this task and evidence that you’ve really thought seriously about your choices and your future. – Written by Erica Dupuy.
